Biathletes

We rode through Golden Gate Park for a run on Ocean Beach--and could have been triathletes today, had the Sutro Baths not burned down in 1966.

Steam rising off the pool early Sunday morning

Nervous in Novato, right before our first swim-run with the team: 2k of swim drills and then about 6k on the running trail....all before morning tea?!

Getting serious about cycling

It was only an 18 mile ride, but it seemed to defy physics and be steeply uphill in BOTH directions—particularly hard climbing up past the Cliff House (note to self: don't do that with a flat tyre again...). Rebecca G. gave me a lesson on how to patch an inner tube, and, this being San Francisco in summertime, we headed for the nearest warming hut to thaw out afterwards.--RM

Mountain training at Donner Lake

Visiting Friends at Donner Lake for the weekend gave us the perfect chance to swim, hike and run in the mountains. Right as the sun was setting on Saturday night, a gorgeous furry water creature swam along side us! No, it wasn't a dog... (although there seemed to be a whole pack of golden retrievers leaping off our neighbor's dock). A river otter? Beaver? Not sure which is native to the Sierras, but in any case, it sure was cute (and a very slick swimmer)!
